SUMMER SERIES

From Here to There: Moving Lessons from Joshua

Have you ever waited a really, really long time for something you’ve wanted or hoped for? Maybe purchasing your first home, landing your dream job, finding that special someone - or seeing your newborn for the very first time.

Think about what it feels like when the day finally arrives, when the thing you’ve longed for becomes a reality… the moment a hope is fulfilled a whole new timeline is ushered in. You move from one existence into another in an instant. A whole new beginning.

The book of Joshua describes such a moment in the history of the descendants of Abraham. The time has come for them to finally inherit the land which had been promised to their forefathers hundreds of years before (Genesis 15). After all those centuries of struggle, there was no turning back. Now was the time to follow God forward - From Here to There- and to enter fully into His promise.

This ancient story is brimming with hope, courage and faith - purpose, promise and victory.

This summer, we're listening for the Moving Lessons that God might have for us today.

We do things a little differently during the summer months at Forest Brook. Over the past couple of years we've set some new rhythms that have infused meaning and joy into our summer season as a church family; rest, sharing meals together, and intentional connection.

Rest Sundays: June 29 & Aug 3 - no gathering

On the July and August long weekends, we'll intentionally rest as a community. We will not gather on Sundays June 29 and August 3. We'll use this time to enjoy the summer rhythms of family, friends, and the communities we live in. We invite you to do something that brings your body, mind and soul rest.

note: We will be gathering as usual Labour Day weekend, August 31

Selah Sundays: July 20 & August 24, 10am

We'll gather facing one another, share ideas, learnings or maybe just our name for the first time.  We know meaningful conversation and connection was important to Jesus, especially when it came to going deeper in our faith.

On Sundays July 20 and August 24, we'll be around the table.

Mid Summer Community Dinner: August 5, 6:30pm

We'll BBQ you bring the sides! All ages and stages.

We'll share in conversation, communion, and hear a short devotional.

Community Dinners create space for a fresh expression of faith in community, are widely inclusive to many availabilities and all ages,

and are a delicious way to 'do church.'
