Donna was called to be part of the Forest Brook staff team in 2000, following many years of leadership in various areas including, Women’s Ministries, Care and Small Groups. Her heartbeat is to help individuals grow in their love, understanding and commitment to Jesus Christ – learning to give all that we know of ourselves to all that we know of Him.
Donna’s formal education includes a degree in psychology, training as a Stephen Ministry leader, courses in leadership, social work and grief and she was mid-way through her M Div degree when she suffered a significant head injury. She would say that her best learning has come from experiencing the love of God and his people, through times of challenge and difficulty. Walking alongside others through the joys and the sorrows of life, is one of her greatest privileges.
Currently God is working in her life as she studies the book of Philippians with her Small Group and is challenged to “be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Being the mother of 3 adult children, who are also her best friends, and Gramma to 5 awesome grandchildren brings great richness and joy to her life.
We love Donna because she does the job intuitively, she has a heart for people, and it shows. She is often immersed in tough situations and tough relational dynamics and has the capacity to care for people like no one else we know. Donna likes to be prepared and to have a schedule which makes her a great colleague! In addition to caring for those in our community, she always checks in to make sure we’re all doing okay in particularly busy seasons, with great insight into ministry life and deep compassion.
