The ministry of the Word is very important at Forest Brook. In the early days of this church our motto was "The whole Bible for the whole family". This established our belief and commitment to the relevance of the Scriptures in our everyday lives. Our aim in preaching is to encourage the people of God to put into practice the truths of Scripture in every day ways. We want to be "doers" of the Word, not just "hearers" (James 1:22).
At Forest Brook we encourage the use of all the gifts within our church body. For this reason, we have always had a diverse group of speakers who teach at our church. We have been blessed as God has always provided a number of gifted preachers and teachers and we celebrate that the Holy Spirit uses many whom He has gifted to speak to our congregation.
Also listed in our core values is "unity in diversity". Because of the varying personalities, backgrounds and styles of both the hearers and speakers we feel enriched in our understanding of how God speaks to his people. All of our messages are biblically based - though their delivery will change based on the style and approach of the speaker.
Our preaching leadership group coordinates all of our sermon series', this group is supervised by our Elders. This group is made up of various individuals (not just speakers) representing the many facets of the congregation. This group meets regularly to pray, discuss and plan how to meet the preaching needs of the congregation.
On occasion we have guest speakers who will teach on a Sunday morning, our Pastoral staff regularly speak as well, here is an introduction to our other regular speakers:
