Forest Brook's Young Adult or College and Careers ministry is targeted at the members of our community aged 18-23 years. With a theme of being "together in the day-to-day" we are working on creating a community for this generation that acknowledges that following Christ is not just in the mountaintop experiences, but flows through all facets of life. The intention of this ministry is not to continue to "hold the hand" of this generation, but rather to create community that can be the source of energy, excitement, encouragement and desire to serve Christ here at FBCC and in our community.
We meet two weeks on, one week off on Sunday evenings here at the church to study God's word together. Currently we're studying 1st Peter with Adrian Grant. The desire of our young adults is to "see life through the lens of scripture" - the intention of this practical study is to help participants do just that.
One of the strengths of Forest Brook, as described by our young adults is multi-generational relationships. We seek to have older individuals involved in the lives of our young adults, as well as have our young adults involved in the lives of our youth and children - these relationships are part of the richness of our community.
Each February we have a retreat for our young adults up at Muskoka Bible Centre, this weekend always features great teaching, lively worship, and lots of time to be in community with one another and get to know each other better. Look for details on the 2018 retreat next fall!
Several times a year we run events to allow for a more informal time of gathering as a community, to enjoy a meal together, hang out and socialize, worship together and to have an opportunity for people to bring their friends along to see what our community is all about.
