Forest Brook Community Church was incorporated in Ontario as “Pickering Bible Chapel” on March 9th, 1982. The church’s name was changed to “Forest Brook Bible Chapel” in November, 1985, as part of the opening of our first building, located in the Forest Brook residential development on the corner of Fairport and Finch in Pickering. With our move to our current location in Ajax we began to operate under the registered name of “Forest Brook Community Church”. This name serves to link us with our past, and also to help us focus on our desire to be a church in the community, for the community.
Forest Brook is a registered charity. Our charity number is 13189 8827 RR001.
As a private corporation, Forest Brook is governed by a Board of Directors and has an official membership role. In the fall of each year, our members meet at the Annual General Meeting at which time they ratify the list of Directors and the annual operating budget.
The spiritual leadership of our church is provided by a group of elders known as the Elders’ Leadership Board. These are spiritually mature men and women who meet regularly to pray and discern the health, needs and direction for our church. Elders are selected from a pool of nominees put forward by the members of the congregation and can serve for a maximum of six consecutive years.
Forest Brook employs both pastoral and support staff who are both qualified and experienced in ways that provide expertise and leadership to all of the ministries of our church.
